In every heart lies an image of a hero, an icon of admiration & one of strict discipline. These figures, whether they are renowned like Michael Jordan or personal like a family member, have walked a challenging path, faced immense challenges, and made sacrifices to achieve greatness.
When we picture our heroes, we often see their accomplishments and the end results of their journey. Rarely do we consider the hours, days, or even years of sacrifice, hardship, and soul-searching they endured. The title of 'hero' isn't just handed to someone; it's earned through blood, sweat, and often tears. I believe it is time that you ask yourself whether or not you have placed the sacrifice needed to become your own hero... Here's the thing, our day-to-day consumes us, and in order for us to become the heroes that we have learnt from we must follow in their footsteps. The journey will not be easy, it will not come at an ease of direction but rather show itself to us in a way that will give us lessons more than losses.
The Path to Greatness is Paved with Sacrifice, is it though?
I know this all too well. I spent seven months in solitary confinement, secluded within my apartment without any external human contact. This was not just a journey of physical isolation, but a spiritual and mental one as well. It was during this time that I began to understand the essence of sacrifice on a profound level. It was during this time that I learned that the only human I could count on was myself. I had, within this time, developed a close group of confidants that I can count on and it was within that time that I was able to understand distractions vs. healthy-minded individuals.
Sacrifice and the Pursuit of Nothingness
Sacrifice requires a journey towards nothingness, towards shedding everything that doesn't serve your greater purpose. This might mean eliminating distractions, distancing from negative influences, or even making tough decisions that may hurt others' feelings. Achieving true peace often requires these hard choices. But it's important to note that while finding this peace might come at the expense of some relationships or comfort zones, it doesn't mean intentionally causing harm. The sacrifice here is made to better your life as you start to understand those around you that rely on your mental being. You will find that during the time where you start the hustle 4 happiness path, many of your distractions will start surfacing emotions that do not serve your purpose. Those who understand will continue standing by your path and those who do not will showcase animosity.
Let's face it: achieving personal peace and clarity may ruffle a few feathers. But as you embark on this journey towards your best self, it's paramount to tread carefully. Hurt feelings can be an inadvertent consequence, not a goal.
Remembering Your Core
Now, it's vital not to misunderstand this process. Seeking personal growth and clarity doesn't give one the license to be dismissive or cruel. Always remember, don't be an antagonist in someone else's story. Prioritize yourself, yes, but also remain empathetic and considerate. I have always said this to those I coach, you must take care of yourself first before you start taking care of others. You must find the clarity your mind needs and the love your heart requires for yourself so that your energy is given back to you naturally through the works of your subconscious.
Learning from the Legends
Take, for instance, Michael Jordan. Beyond the slam dunks, championship rings, and fame, lies a tale of a man who had to give up numerous facets of his life. His dedication, hustle, and immense will to succeed required balance, understanding, and, most importantly, sacrifice. It's essential to realize that Jordan's journey to leaving an unparalleled legacy in basketball and beyond wasn't just about talent but the relentless drive coupled with a balanced perspective on life. Even when the switch happened, he understood the assignment. He knew that he must be the hardest working person in the room so that he could be labeled as the leader he knew himself to be. Understand this, in order for you to become a great leader you must remain a student of life. This means you must learn how to follow orders however do not forget to stay observant during your time of work.
Finding Your Balance
It's crucial to understand that the road to success isn't just about hard work; it's about recognizing what you're giving up in the process and finding balance. Embracing this reality and being prepared for the challenges ahead is essential.
In the end, it's about asking ourselves: *What am I willing to sacrifice for my dreams?* As we uncover the answers, we not only find our path to success but also develop a deeper appreciation for our heroes and their journey.
So what is a hero & what does it take to become one?
Sacrifice. Hustle. Discipline.
Do you have it in you?
If not, let's work... I can get you there...
